The Tri-County Fire Fighters Association will host their annual homecoming festival June 16-19 at Veterans Field in Mount Sterling. Food, games, music and amusement rides fill the schedule.
Festival hours are 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday, 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday. Ride specials are set for 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Southern Illusion will perform classic rock and country music at 7 p.m. on Friday. Lost Creek will perform a variety of music at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The fire fighters will be among the food vendors, serving up their famous hamburgers with special sauce.
The homecoming is one of the fire districts major annual fund-raisers. They also put on a Mothers Day flower sale and a fall golf outing.
Funds go toward the purchase of station supplies and fire fighting equipment. In recent years, the district has acquired rescue tools for each fire fighter, a power unit for the rescue tools, and fire hose. The fire fighters also have set aside funds for continuing restoration work on the districts antique fire equipment.
The Tri-County Fire District covers 118 square miles and serves a population of approximately 10,200.
The homecoming has been a tradition in Mount Sterling since the late 1800s. The fire fighters have organized the event for the last four decades.
