The Madison County Junior Fair Sale Committee Building Fund collected more than $46,000 in cash and pledges at its kickoff fundraiser on Oct. 20, 2013. The group is working to raise $500,000 to pay for the construction of a new youth arena and general purpose building at the Madison County Fairgrounds in London.
Among the highlights were pledges by Farm Credit Mid-America for $10,000 and top pledges by the Fraternal Order of Eagles, MCE, Myers’ Mini Acres, and Tony and Anthoula Xenikis.
“In recognition of the opening of our new office in Madison County and in support of the 4-H and FFA programs in Madison County, Farm Credit Mid-America would like to pledge a donation of $10,000,” said Doug Shannon, financial services officer for Farm Credit Mid-America. “We are very excited to be part of the Madison County agricultural community with the addition of our new office location north of London.” Other presenters for Farm Credit Mid-America were Ashley Culp and Jerick Abbott.
The Madison Kountry Kids 4-H Club raised $2,500 and presented a check during the event. Buckeye Barbecue donated their services, as did the Tim Omark Band.

More than $1,400 in anonymous donations were made, too.
With the Madison County Commissioners providing a two-to-one match, the kickoff event total comes to $138,000.
