Okay, okay…..so here I am again, apologizing for my lack of blogs as of late.
This time, however, my vacation from writing has not been out of lack of desire or time, but lack of ability.
About six weeks ago, I was in a rush to get to Miss Katie, who, as always, was getting into something she shouldn’t. In my haste, I decided to step over the baby gate instead of opening it, and in true klutz-fashion, took quite a tumble.
I broke my arm, near my elbow, into several pieces. After a trip to the emergency room and a follow-up with a stellar orthopedic doctor, I spent a week in a full cast, followed by surgery. The doctor was able to piece my arm back together using three screws, and since then, my life has revolved around physical therapy, splints and stretches. No fun at all, especially for a pregnant lady with limited access to pain medication.
Needless to say, I haven’t been able to be very hands-on with Katie, lately. Having only one hand makes simple tasks like diaper changing, dressing and bathing, pretty much impossible, especially with a squirmy toddler who would rather run and hide than take part in any of said activities.
It’s been quite a time, both for me and everyone else involved. So much has happened with Katie, as well as baby number two. I have plenty of tales to tell, and am finally getting to a place where I can tell them. I was given permission just this week to remove my splint, and my typing is returning, slowly but surely.
It might take awhile, but I promise to catch everyone up.
