Canal Winchester High School has a rich athletic history and, in celebration of this tradition, the school announced its 21st class of inductees into the Canal Winchester Athletic Hall of Fame and Award of Merit program.
This year’s hall of fame inductees are Chad Beller, Alisha Dials and Dick Gale. The Award of Merit recipient is Paul Owens.
“The hall of fame is a great way to honor our past athletes as well as the volunteers who serve the community and the schools,” said Canal Winchester Athletic Director Kent Riggs. “It keeps our history alive, preserves our traditions and keeps us moving forward in a positive way.”
The induction ceremony will take place at halftime of the Canal Winchester vs. Delaware Hayes varsity football game on Sept. 6. A banquet will be held in the Canal Winchester High School cafetorium on Sept. 7 beginning with a meet and greet at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Interested individuals are invited to attend both the induction and banquet ceremonies.
Riggs said this year’s inductees are a deserving group.
“Chad Beller was a three-sport athlete and a hard worker,” said Riggs. “Alisha Dials is one of the most outstanding volleyball players to ever play for Canal Winchester. Dick Gale is a state champion pole vaulter.”
Riggs added, “Paul Owens has been in the booster club and a volunteer for more than a decade. He was influential in our stadium project. His time and service to our programs is what the Award of Merit is all about.”
