The North Central Ohio Solid Waste District will hold an electronic waste recycling and drug take-back day on April 28 at various locations in Madison County. For more information, call Darlene Steele at (740) 852-3800, ext. 214, or go to www.ncowaste.org.
Electronic Waste Recycling
This collection will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Madison County Fairgrounds in London (use the Garfield Avenue en-trance) and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sterling Pharmacy/Family Dollar parking lot in Mount Sterling.
Items that can be dropped off include: computers, modems, monitors, printers, keyboards, laptops, copiers, fax machines, scanners, routers, servers, hard drives, cell phones, DVD players, mice, game systems, batteries and floppy drives. There is no charge to drop off these items.
Televisions of any size will be accepted for a $15 fee.
Tires and household hazardous waste will not be accepted.
Drop off expired and unused medications from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sterling Pharmacy/Family Dollar parking lot in Mount Sterling, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the town gazebo in West Jefferson, or from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Madison County Fairgrounds in London.
(Note: The West Jefferson site is only participating in the drug take-back. Absolutely no electronic waste will be collected in West Jefferson.)
Vegetable Plant Give-away
Everyone who take part in the electronic waste recycling or drug take-back at the London and Mount Sterling sites will receive a free vegetable plant grown by participants in the horticultural program at Madison Correctional Institution.
Helping the North Central Ohio Solid Waste District to organize the April 28 collections are the Pleasant Township trus-tees, Madison County Sheriffs Office, Madison-Plains athletic department, Village of Mount Sterling, and West Jefferson Police.
