Sixth-graders attend OSU Baseball Day
Approximately 2,600 sixth-grade students throughout Columbus City Schools (CCS) participated in an educational pep rally and baseball game at The Ohio State University on May 17.
In its seventh year, the “OSU Baseball Day” is designed to show students the opportunities and advantages of higher education and the importance of staying in school.
Westmoor Middle School student, Mohamed Busuri, assisted by Keith Bell, CCS deputy superintendent and chief academic officer, threw out the first pitch of the game.
The Ohio State cheerleaders, mascot Brutus Buckeye and members of the Ohio State Marching Band welcomed the sixth-graders to campus.
Bell introduced the district’s newest inductees into Ohio State’s Young Scholars Program, a statewide initiative to prepare students from urban school districts for college.
