Roberts Road/Alton & Darby Creek project to begin
(Posted Feb. 24, 2011)
The reconstruction and realignment of the Roberts Road and Alton & Darby Creek Road intersection will begin on or about March 1.
The $2.9 million project is expected to be completed by August.
“The current offset intersections of Roberts Road East and West, which are nearly 900 feet apart, will be replaced with a traditional four way intersection, with turn lanes, at the northern Roberts Road East and Alton & Darby Creek Road intersection,” said Franklin County Engineer Dean Ringle. “The realigned Roberts Road West will be a three lane roadway that will tie directly into Roberts Road East.”
Other improvements include the building of a new storm sewer system and water line, and the installation of new traffic control signage and signals.
Traffic will be maintained during the early phases of construction. A 30 day closure of the intersection is scheduled to occur in June. There may also be short road closures for water line work.
The posted detour route around the construction will follow Davis Road, Walker Road, Alton & Darby Creek Road, Renner Road, and Spindler Road.
The Franklin County Engineer’s Office will supervise the construction done by Double Z Construction Company. Funding is provided by the Ohio Public Works Commission, city of Hilliard, Schottenstein Homes, and Franklin County.
