Township prepares for auction

(by Rachel Scofield, Staff Writer - October 13, 2007)
The eclectic items at the Franklin Township auction on Oct. 20 will range from clothing to a dump truck.

The auction begins at 10:30 a.m. at the township office, 2193 Frank Road.
A complete list of the items is currently available at the township office. It includes many tools, electronics, sports equipment and bicycles. People may also bid on several vehicles including police cars and the sedan previously used by the fire chief.

The dump truck to be auctioned includes a salt spreader and a plow.

Police Chief Mike Castle expects the turnout to be fairly high for some items.

“A dozen people will be here solely for the big trucks,” Castle said.

People may ask questions and inspect the items, but the township cannot be held responsible if there are problems.

“They look at it, they buy it, that’s it,” Castle said.  “Everything is sold as is, once they buy it, it’s their responsibility.”
