City to host rain garden workshops
The city of Grove City and Keep Grove City Beautiful are hosting two rain garden workshops.
The first will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. on Aug. 28 at the Gardens at Gantz Farmhouse, 2255 Home Road. There will also be a workshop held from 9-11:30 a.m. on Sept. 25 at Henceroth Park, 2075 Mallow Lane.
Rain gardens are a natural way to use rain water as a resource and create beautiful gardens at the same time. They are designed to trap rain water and allow it to soak into the ground, rather than run into the storm sewer and then into our streams and waterways.
Participants will learn how to create a rain garden that provides a habitat and food for birds and butterflies, recharges the ground water supply and helps filter storm water runoff before it enters local waterways. You will help install a garden at each park, please come prepared to plant and mulch. The cost is $10. Pre-registration is required, space is limited.
To register for the workshop, call the Grove City Parks and Recreation Department at 277-3050.
