At the Southeast Library


The Southeast Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, 3980 S. Hamilton Road, Columbus, offers the following programs (for information call 645-2275):

Storytimes:
•Baby Laptime on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. for ages birth to 18 months and their caregivers with 20 minutes of rhymes, stories and songs, plus time for play.

•Toddler Storytime on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10 a.m. for ages 18 months to 3. Sessions are 20-30 minutes. Caregiver must stay in the room with the child.
 
•Preschool Storytime on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 11 a.m. for ages 3-6. Sessions are 30-35 minutes.

•Family Storytime on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. & Saturdays at 11 a.m. for all ages. Sessions are 30-35 minutes.
 
 Fall programs:
•Book Cover Bonanza on Sept. 2 at 5 p.m. Cover your school textbooks in style. Materials provided. For grades K-12.

•Back to School Bash on Sept. 20, 2010 at 5 p.m. Fun games and activities to introduce the services that Homework Help Center has to offer. For grades K-12.

•Peter Yarrow visit at the JCC  on Oct. 10 at 2:30 p.m. Peter Yarrow of the 1960s folk music trio Peter, Paul, & Mary will be giving a reading during the Jewish Community Center's Annual Book Fair. Activities based on the themes of Yarrow's books and music will be presented by Southeast's Youth Services Team Lead, Beth Muncy. Tickets are required for this event. Ticket sale information TBA. 

•All About Alternative Energy Sources on Oct. 16 at 1-3 p.m. Learn about alternative energy sources and the pros/cons of hybrid cars through interactive activity stations. Help Girl Scout Troup #50384 earn their silver award by attending this fascinating program.

•Read to the Teens on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. Celebrate Teen Read Week by reading to a teen. Members of the Southeast Teen Advisory Board will be on hand to enjoy stories read by you. Bring a favorite book or borrow one of ours.

•Pumpkin Party on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. Children are invited to dress-up in costume for trick-or-treat throughout the library.

•Buckeye Pep Rally on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Get ready to cheer the Buckeyes to a win against the Wolverines with this football themed storytime.

•Tween Gaming at 4 p.m. on Sept. 28, Oct. 26 and Nov. 30. Play your favorite PS2 and Wii games and board games like Apples to Apples. For ages 8-11.

•Teen Gaming at 4 p.m. on Sept. 14; Oct. 5, 12, 19; Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23; and Dec. 7, 14. Play your favorite PS2 and Wii games and board games like Apples to Apples. Ages 12-17.

•Homework Help Center - Students have everything they need to complete their homework - friendly staff and volunteers to provide homework help, computers, printers, on-site school supplies, a collection of resource books, and a welcoming atmosphere for studying and learning. Hours: Monday - Thursday 4-7 p.m.
