(by Jeff Pfeil, staff photographer - August 24, 2010)

Lilly Chapel was the host of the 27th annual Trinity Homecoming on Aug. 21. Beginning with the parade at 11 a.m., the day was filled with food, games, crafts, auctions, music and friendship.

Leading the parade into Lilly Chapel are Grand Marshal Rev. Jesse Blevins with his wife Kim and their daughter Krisalyn.

The Madison-Plains High School marching band provides music during the parade. Later, the band performed the National Anthem then entertained the crowd in the parking lot adjacent to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Royalty is always a part of a parade. The London Strawberry Festival’s second attendant, Emily Davis, waves to the crowd.

Madison County Commissioner David Dhume reaches to throw more candy to the parade crowd.

Bill Straley of West Jefferson and his 1950 John Deere tractor are regulars at the Lilly Chapel event.

Red Godden rides shotgun alongside Bill Wells in a 1955 Thunderbird.

Virginia Hunter and Bea Riegel of London prepare to enjoy Trinity United Methodist’s famous chicken and noodles and homemade pie.  This year was the first time Hunter attended the Homecoming. She came to hear her grandson play in the Madison-Plains marching band. Riegel has been to the celebration about five times.

Jacob Cordle and Bob Crompton run the child games during the annual homecoming. Crompton is the owner and creator of the games and has been operating them for about 40 years. Cordle is Crompton’s successor.

Brad Hunter, 7, of West Jefferson aims a tennis ball in an attempt to knock down
one of three “cats.”

Wyatt Kistler, 7, of Georgesville walks away with a full tube of pucker power after
filling it with his favorite colors.

As the homecoming’s official grillmaster, Ralph Conner prepares another order of boneless pork chops for the Trinity Church Men’s Group sandwiches.

Kinsey Null gives it her all in the 25- to 40-lb. bracket of the pedal pull. Null won her bracket with two full pulls. Her prize: a $5 gift coupon from the Candy Man.

Teams playing in the corn hole contest enjoy the nice summer weather.
