Canal Winchester Labor Day festival (updated)


Following a tradition that began in 1920, Canal Winchester will hold its annual Labor Day Festival from Sept. 4, 5 & 6 in the village's historic downtown.

The event will feature carnival rides, live entertainment, a cruise-in, scholarship pageant, the parade, a beer garden, and more. Festival hours will be: Sept. 4, 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sept. 5, noon to 11 p.m.; Sept. 6, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The festival schedule:

Sept. 4
•11 a.m. - Tiny and Little Miss Pageant (main stage)
•Noon to 6 p.m. - The Quilters on the Canal quilting show (Community Center)
•12:30 p.m. - Puttin' on the Hits (main stage)
•1 p.m. - Heindog & Stadz Band (Stradley  Place stage)
•3 p.m. - Junior and Miss Pageant (main stage)
•4:30 p.m. - Lewis Brothers Band (Stradley Place stage)
•5 p.m. - Hipnotics Band (main stage)
•8 p.m. - British Invasion (main stage)

Sept. 5
•8 a.m. - 5K Run hosted by the Canal Winchester Alumni Scholarship Association at the high school
•Noon - Car Show (West Waterloo St.)
•Noon to 6 p.m. - The Quilters on the Canal quilting show (Community Center)
•Noon - Highway 70 (main stage)
•1:30 p.m. - Ice cream eating contest (main stage)
•2 p.m. - Musical chairs (behind Stradley Place)
•2 p.m. - Dave Clo (Stradley Place stage)
•2:30 p.m. - Hula Hoop (behind Stradley Place)
•3:30 p.m. - Limbo (behind Stradley Place)
•3:30 p.m. - Pet Dress Up (behind Stradley Place)
•4 p.m. - Car Show awards (main stage)
•4 p.m. - Pet dress up (behind Stradley Place)
•4 p.m. - Tissue Contest (behind Stradley Place)
•4:30 p.m. - Flying Monkey (behind Stradley Place)
•5 p.m. - Enchanted (main stage)
•7 p.m. - Dave Clo (main stage)
•8 p.m. - McGuffey Lane (main stage)

Sept. 6
•11 a.m. - Queen's luncheon (by invitation) (high school)
•11:30 a.m. - Cornerstone Gospel Group (main stage)
•Noon to 6 p.m. - The Quilters on the Canal quilting show (Community Center)
•1 p.m. - Parade (starts at high school) Grand marshal is Pat Hartman.
•3:30 p.m. - Introduction of Labor Day Queens (main stage)
•4 p.m. - Gas Pump Jockeys (main stage)
•6 p.m. - Festival closes.
