Alum Creek Drive widening and resurfacing project to begin

Franklin County Engineer Dean Ringle announced that the widening and resurfacing of Alum Creek Drive from north of Bixby Road to I-270, including the interstate ramp, will begin on or about Aug. 23. The project is expected to be completed by May 2011.

The $3.5 million roadway improvements will include new asphalt pavement and storm sewers; and widening at Groveport Road to accommodate the addition of through, left, and right turn lanes on both sides of Alum Creek Drive. Two way travel will be maintained. Expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.

Funding will be provided by the Ohio Department of Development and the Federal Highway Administration through the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.

The project is in preparation for the future reconstruction and realignment of Groveport Road in the area, which is currently in the design phase.
