United Way of Clark, Champaign and Madison Counties has named Chip Spinning as the 2010 Madison County campaign chairman.
Spinning, director of the Madison County Department of Job and Family Services, has been an active United Way volunteer, serving on impact and campaign committees and on the board of directors. In addition to his United Way involvement, Spinning has served locally and at the state level on committees promoting stable, healthy families.
Spinning has confirmed his 2010 campaign cabinet, which includes Zahid Siddiqi, Dr. Martha Geib, Susan Young, Elizabeth Finchum, Don Herman, Steve Lelonek and Lisa Hill.
“When we started last year’s campaign, I had some concerns about our ability to meet our goal, but the support that we received for United Way last year was tremendous,” Spinning said. “I believe that the community will once again provide the resources that are desperately needed for Madison County residents. I would like to thank all of those who supported us last year and ask for their support for this year’s campaign.”
United Way in Madison County will kick off their annual campaign with a cookout on the Madison County Courthouse lawn from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 27. Prior to the kick-off, United Way will host the second annual Day of Caring from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers throughout Madison County will join local nonprofit and other community organizations to work on service projects.
“The Day of Caring event formally kicks off our community campaign efforts. It is a great way to join together for a few hours of hands-on service to make a difference in our community,” said Amy Rees, United Way coordinator.
