Balloons and Tunes to light up the night
The city of Grove City and Giant Eagle are proud to present the Balloons & Tunes Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival on Friday, Aug. 27 and Saturday, Aug. 28 at Beulah Park, 3811 Southwest Blvd.
The event, formerly Balloons Off Broadway, will feature 20 unique hot air balloons in coordination with the Central Ohio Balloon Club. Event hours are Friday, Aug. 27 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 28 from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Balloon ascensions are planned for Friday and Saturday evenings between the hours of 6 and 7:30 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings between 7 and 8 a.m. There will also be balloon glows on Friday and Saturday evenings at dusk. All launches, rides and glows are dependent on weather.
New this year, attendees will learn about the science of hot air ballooning in the Balloon Imaginarium. This fun, informational area will allow people of all ages to touch real balloons and ask questions of the pilots who fly them. Live musical entertainment and free children's activities, including bounce houses, a mobile video game room and more, will be offered when the balloons are not on the field. Tethered rides and balloon flights will be sold.
There is no fee for admission or children's activities, but there is a $5 parking fee per vehicle.
"The city is pleased to provide this special event without an admission charge this year," said Mayor Richard "Ike" Stage. "Please join us for this enjoyable family tradition."
No tailgating, coolers or pets will be permitted. Balloons & Tunes is a smoke-free event.
