City to open Holton Trail

The city of Grove city will mark the grand opening of its newest multi-purpose trail on Holton Road with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and celebration focused on bicycle safety on Aug. 19.

This trail marks the important connection of Hoover Road to Buckeye Parkway, including safe access to Buckeye Woods Elementary School, Jackson Middle School and Creekside Park.

A variety of family-friendly activities and a free ice cream giveaway are planned from 6-7 p.m. at Buckeye Woods Elementary School, 2525 Holton Road. Stations will be set up for children to decorate their bikes and then feature them in a parade and rodeo.

The Grove City Division of Police will be on-site to license bicycles at no cost, and representatives from South-Western City Schools will distribute literature about child safety. New maps, outlining all the multi-use trails in the city, will be available.

A ribbon cutting and short ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. on the corner of Holton Road and Meadowgrove Drive.

"We are continually working to improve the connectivity of our trail system throughout Grove City," said Mayor Richard "Ike" Stage. "The Holton Road connector is an important part of the plan to make our city the most walkable, safe and bikable city in the region."
