The Groveport Buttoneers 4-H Club exhibited projects and livestock at the Franklin County Fair in Hilliard where they received many awards. Their scarecrow, which followed the theme "How Green Am I?" won first place in the scarecrow contest.
Local winners at the fair:
•Paden Brobst - Grand Champion Dairy Beef Feeder, Grand Champion Turkey, and Reserve Champion Overall Market Poultry. First place Senior Outstanding Market Exhibitor in poultry and dairy feeder. Also had swine projects.
•Christy Wildermuth - Grand Champion Market Lamb, first place in "Cookies In A Jar," which sold at the Creative Foods Auction. Won awards in the swine show, dairy beef feeder and the Flower Arrangement Challenge. First place Senior Sheep Outstanding Market Exhibitor.
•Kelsey Brobst - won awards in Dairy Beef Feeders, swine, and had Reserve Champion Turkey.
•Hope Brobst - won awards in Dairy Beef Feeders, swine, and turkeys.
•Lane Brobst - Reserve Champion Lightweight Lamb trophy and awards in swine and dairy beef feeder.
•Mariah Clark - Breeding Rabbits class champion and Grand Champion Breeding Duck.
•Logan Clark - class champion in Breeding Rabbits.
•Jodi Cook - won awards in swine and participated in the Royalty Contest.
•Roni Cook - a participant in the photography show and won awards for swine.
•Samantha Ellis - participated in the Showman of Showman contest, won Senior Sheep Showmanship, and participated in the Showman of Showman Livestock Contest. Also won awards in swine.
•Strickler Ellis - Reserve Champion Lamb project and awards in swine. First place in the Duct Tape Contest with his shorts made of duct tape.
•Madison Frasure - won first and second place in her class in goats, class champion in rabbits, Honorable Mention in Reptiles, participated in the photography show, and is the State Fair Selection in Cake Decorating.
•Maddie Garrett - "A" awards in her clothing project, Honorable Mention in Quick Breads and first place with her cookies in the Creative Baking Contest, which got to sell in the auction.
•Jacob Garrett - Honorable Mention with his woodworking project.
•Zachary Haynes - lightweight swine class winner and received awards in sheep and goats; participated in the Showman of Showman Livestock Contest.
•Isabelle Johnson - Outstanding Ribbon in photography.
•Sam Johnson - Honorable Mention for rocket project.
•Teddy Johnson - radio controlled car was a State Fair Selection and will exhibit it at the State Fair.
•Mary Grace Johnson - Outstanding ribbon for hamster.
•John Lewis - Honorable Mention for Food and Fitness project and will go to the State Fair with Fast Break For Breakfast project.
•David Lewis - "A" ribbon for cat project.
•Mahum Mallick - "A" ribbons for clothing project and sewing skillathon.
•Adam Powell - Honorable Mention ribbons for archery project and Exploring Our Forests.
•Ian Ritchey - awards in swine and sheep.
•Henry Tremains - won Honorable Mention for photography project. Took part in the Creativity Challenge.
•Nick Zwayer - will go to the State Fair with woodworking project. Placed first in the heavyweight swine class, awarded Most Colorful in the Veggie Car Derby, and participated in the Savvy Shopper Contest.
•Cloverbuds Kyle Jennings took ribbons in the Veggie Car Derby and the Duct Tape Contest; and Abby Harshman had a ribbon for the Duct Tape Contest.
•Colin Hoff attended the fair on Cloverbud Day.
