Lithopolis gets funding for Columbus Street

Mayor Eric Sandine and Lithopolis Village Council announced $1.3 million was awarded by the Ohio Public Works Commission for the Columbus Street Reconstruction Project.

Improvements include a full depth, full width reconstruction of Columbus Street between Delaware Street and Walnut Street, as well as sidewalks, street lights, storm sewers, and water line replacement. During the project, South Central Power will relocate  existing overhead power lines underground. Construction will commence in August and be substantially completed by Nov. 19.

During this time, Columbus Street will be closed to traffic. Motorists traveling between Lancaster and Columbus are encouraged to use U.S. 33 or Marcy Road to avoid the construction zone and significant delays. Access to local businesses will be maintained on the alleys north and south of Columbus Street.

For information, call Sandine at 837-2031.
