Volunteers needed for National Road Association

Denna Johnson of the National Road Association recently informed West Jefferson Council that Madison County lacks representation on the group’s board.
She said that each of the 10 counties through which the National Road (Route 40) passes is allowed two representatives. The board meets every other month. Johnson is looking for someone from West Jefferson or elsewhere in Madison County to volunteer to represent the county.
The National Road Association is installing interpretive signage at historical points along the road, is seeking sponsors for these signs, and has embarked on a fund-raising drive to foot the bill for cards depicting historical images.
