Warehouse roof collapses in Groveport
The weight of heavy rains are believed to have contributed to a partial roof collapse at the Genco, Inc. warehouse on Opus Drive in Groveport on July 9.
According to Groveport Building Official Stephen Moore, no one was injured when a 60 by 100 foot area of the roof gave way. He said the collapse was the result of the failure of eight roof bolts. The bolts were part of the original construction of the building more than 10 years ago. He said these types of bolts were "very typical" in the construction of warehouses around Central Ohio. He added there was no way to test beforehand for what happened.
Moore said repairs are underway at the building and it should be operational in a couple of weeks with full repairs most likely to be completed in several weeks.
