Meal program kicks off
Free meals will be available in Reynoldsburg for children age 1 through 19 years through the summer, courtesy of the Ohio Summer Food Service Program.
New this year is a mobile unit that will deliver lunchtime meals to four locations throughout the city. Meals will be available at Post Woods from 11 to 11:30 a.m., at Wind River from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at East Green from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and at Century City from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m.
Additionally, any child may stop by for breakfast and/or lunch at Reynoldsburg High School, 6699 E. Livingston Ave. Breakfast will be served from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The program will run through Aug. 13.
The Summer Meal program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Any child between the ages of 1 and 19 is welcome. Call (614) 501-1030 for more information.
The People of Haiti, a showing of watercolors by Jeri Ellis Platt, will be displayed at the Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church at 895 Old Diley Road in Pickerington, from July 11 until Aug. 13.
Platt will present a power point presentation on her art and mission to Haiti at the church at 11:45 a.m. July 11. The church will be open weekdays until 5 p.m., or by appointment. For more information, call (614) 833-1707.
Senior center music series
The Pickerington Senior Center 2010 Music Series will continue July 22 with an ice cream social.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with sandwiches, salad, ice cream, pie or cake, coffee and iced tea. Everything is ala carte.
The Continentals will play from 7 to 9 p.m. Call the senior center at (614) 837-3020 to make a reservation. The event is open to the public.
Sheltie Rescue benefit
Proceeds from a charity bike run and benefit concert will go to Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue Inc., a local rescue organization that places sheltie dogs into new homes.
The event, called Rock ‘n’ Ride for Rescue, will take place throughout the day Aug. 1 at the Rude Dog Bar and Grill, 8711 Sancus Blvd., Columbus.
Musical entertainment will include A Bassic Approach at 1:30 p.m., Voo Doo Slave at 2:30 p.m., Donna Mogavero at 3:30 p.m., Johnny Rook at 4:30 p.m. and DaCosta Brothers at 5:30 p.m. The featured band, Enchanted, will play at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $5 at the door or $10 ahead of time, which includes an entry into a grand prize drawing.

Farmers market open
Reynoldsburg’s farmers market is now open and will run every Thursday through Sept. 30 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Huber Park.
Fruits, vegetables, meats and cheese will be available. Now in its third year, the farmers market is full of locally grown, healthy food options.

Disability income seminar
“Should I Apply for Social Security Disability Income for My Child?” is the parent seminar topic to be held at Brookwood Presbyterian Church, 2685 E. Livingston Ave., from 7 to 9 p.m. July 28.
John Harrison, attorney at law, whose practice focuses on disability law issues, will be the presenter.
The parent seminar is free but reservations are required. Call the church office for additional information/reservations.
Youth fall soccer registration
The Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting registrations for youth fall soccer.
Registration is the entire month of July. Early Bird registration for Reynoldsburg residents only, runs through July 16 for a fee of $30. After that date the registration fee for Reynoldsburg residents will be $37 and $45 for non-residents.
Registration will close on July 31. Registration forms and preseason information sheets can be picked up at the Municipal Building, 7232 E. Main St., or can be printed off the city website.

Reynoldsburg concert series
The Reynoldsburg Community Band continues its 2010 Summer Concert Series July 12 at the Reynoldsburg Senior Center, 1520 Davidson Drive, beginning at 7 p.m. The concert is family-friendly and admission is free.
The band will perform a variety of music including The Cowboys, Duke Ellington, Cool Blues for Saxophones, Mancini Magic and Selections from “Grease.”

Yorkshire Swim Club reunion
The Yorkshire Swim Club will hold a reunion from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Eastmoor Pool, 735 Eastmoor Blvd., Columbus.
Come celebrate the good old pool days, with pizza provided and live music by The Almost Brothers. Bring a favorite dish or dessert to share.
Cost is $20 per person in advance, or $25 at the door. All other proceeds go to the Eastmoor Pool. Bring your own beer, though no glass is allowed. Children are welcomed, with no charge for those younger than 14.

Parents’ Day Out
Parkview Presbyterian Church in Reynoldsburg is now accepting registration for its Parents’ Day Out Program.
The program is a Christian-based play group for 2- and 3-year-old children. The class meets on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Parkview Presbyterian Church is located on Livingston Avenue next to Blacklick Woods Metro Park.
