Jackson Township begins mosquito fogging
Mosquito fogging in Jackson Township is underway each Tuesday and Thursday evening from 9 p.m. to midnight, as this is the time when most of the population is indoors and mosquitoes are most active.
The township will routinely treat the more densely populated subdivisions and rural areas. Mosquito spraying will not take place if it is raining or if the wind speed is 10 miles per hour or greater. The township uses products which are not considered harmful to humans, however people with breathing difficulties are advised to keep their windows closed.
The township also has an arrangement in place with Franklin County Board of Health for trapping and monitoring areas of the township on an as needed basis.
How can you help?
Start in your own backyard. Mosquitoes require standing water for their young to hatch and develop. Anything that holds water is a potential breeding site for mosquitoes.
•Empty containers that hold water; store them upside down or in a garage or basement.
•Change the water in wading pools weekly and store indoors when not in use.
•Empty bird baths twice weekly.
•Empty your pets' outside watering dishes daily.
