Groveport revenues up in May
Village of Groveport income tax revenues for May 2010 were $754,217, which is up $247,841 from May 2009, an increase of about 49 percent. Total income tax revenues so far in 2010 are $4.4 million, a decrease of 4.3 percent compared to this time in 2009.
Comparatively, income tax revenues for this same time the last six years were: 2009: $4.6 million; 2008: $6 million; 2007: $4.8 million; 2006: $4.3 million; 2005: $3.4 million; and 2004: $3.3 million.
"It was the best May collections we've ever had," said Groveport Finance Director Ken Salak of the recent results. "(The department heads) are managing their budgets very well."
In related news, the Ohio Department of Development announced June 14 that Eddie Bauer, LLC, in Groveport, will receive a $75,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for new machinery and equipment to support the company's expansion. The company is also renovating its 2.2 million square foot warehouse in Groveport. The company's more than $27.5 million project is expected to create 325 jobs and retain 352 positions at the facility.
Additionally, GENCO I, Inc., in Groveport received a $60,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for new machinery and equipment as part of its expansion. The company will lease and renovate a 410,000 square foot facility. The $3.5 million project is expected to create 80 jobs.
