DivorceCare seminar
DivorceCare recovery seminar and support group will meet at Cypress Wesleyan Church, 377 Alton-Darby Creek Rd., in Galloway each Sunday at 6 p.m. now through Nov. 18. There will also be one session held the morning of Sept. 29, with childcare provided.
DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) will be offered at the same time on Sundays and children, ages 5 through 12 are welcome to attend if you are in the DivorceCare class. There is also other children’s programming offered for infants through 12th grade. To register or to receive more information, please call Debbie Brisentine at the church office, 878-8192 ext. 238. PTSC exercise programs
The Prairie Township Senior Center hosts excercise programs free of costs throughout the week. The schedule is as follows:
Mondays - 10 a.m., Low Impact Aerobics
Tuesdays - 9:30 a.m., Gentle Stretchers
Wednesdays - 10 a.m., Conditioning Exercise
Fridays - 10 a.m., Gentle Stretchers

Awana youth program
Immanuel Baptist Church’s Awana youth program begins Sept. 18 and runs through April on Tuesdays from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. This program is for children in kindergarten through eight grade. Joining is free, but a handbook for the year costs around $6.
Awana is a Christian ministry that teaches Bible verse memorization to children in central Ohio and in churches around the world. Special events are sprinkled throughout the Awana year, like holiday celebrations, Bible quizzing, a miniature regatta boat race, games competitions, and a small scale Grand Prix car race. All activities are carefully supervised by Immanuel’s church members. Immanuel Baptist Church is located at 3417 Palmetto St. at Derrer Road near Westgate Park. Women’s Dinner

Committee members needed

GriefShare at local church
GriefShare recovery support group will be hosted by Cypress Wesleyan Church in Galloway each Sunday at 6 p.m. through Dec. 9. The class will meet in the District Center, 457 Alton-Darby Creek Road (the brick building north of the church, close to the railroad tracks).

West High Alumni Golf
The West High School Alumni Association will host a golf outing on Oct. 5 at the Phoenix Golf Links in Grove City. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and a shotgun start begins at 10 a.m. The cost for the event is $50 per person, which includes golf, cart, meal and door prizes. The money raised will go towards athletics at West High School.

Free healthy living courses
The Franklin County Commissioners will host a series of free lunch hour courses geared towards helping residents and county workers enjoy healthier lives. The courses will be held each Wednesday through the end of the year and are open to the public. Those who attend the courses will receive lessons on healthy activities such as golf, ballroom dancing, cooking, exercise and more. Flu and pneumonia shots
The Dodge Senior Center, 667 Sullivant Ave., will be giving flu and pneumonia shots, on Friday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., or Tuesday Oct. 23, 3-6 p.m. Bring Medicare or personal health insurance card, or pay $28 for the flu shot. First come, first served.
DSC Halloween lunch
The Dodge Senior Center, 667 Sullivant Ave., is hosting a Halloween luncheon, Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $6 per person. Reservation deadline is Oct. 19. Wear a disguise, try to win a prize in the balloon and cookie decorating contests.

12 Step Recovery program

Glenwood UMC festival

New MOPS group
A MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group sponsored by Life In Christ Fellowship will begin meeting monthly in the New Life Nazarene Church located at 2020 State Route 142 NE, West Jefferson. Moms will enjoy a light breakfast and two hours of adult conversation, discussions, crafts, and fun. Their preschool children are lovingly cared for in the MOPPETS program with stories, crafts, fun and snacks. This year’s theme is “The Home Factor.” Meeting times are 9:30-11:30 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month September through May (no meeting in December). Living with Epilepsy
The Living with Epilepsy symposium, presented by Riverside Methodist Hospital and the Epilepsy Foundation of Central Ohio, will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Riverside Methodist Hospital, 3545 Olentangy River Road. Baked Steak Dinner

Military prayer service

Westgate cleanup
It’s time for the last cleanup of the year for Westgate Park, sponsored by Camp Chase Blockwatch, Saturday, Oct. 6, from 10-11 a.m. (early birds can arrive as early as 8:30 a.m.). Meet at the recreation center’s parking lot doors and dress for dirt! Sponsors will supply all cleaning items including gloves and trash bags. There will be a canvass of the park to pick up trash and trimming bushes and cleaning up the planting areas around the recreation center. Members of The Friends of Westgate Park will be on hand to talk about how to get involved in the beautification of the park. Plans are underway to form a Ladies Auxiliary Group at AM VETS Post 300. All post members are asked to participate in this open enrollment. SWCS College Fair
The South-Western City School District will sponsor its annual College Fair on Oct. 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Westland High School, 146 Galloway Road. The program will provide important information to assist high school students and parents in making decisions concerning higher education choices following high school graduation. Representatives from colleges, universities, technical schools, and branches of the military will be in attendance. All are welcome to attend the college fair. Attendees will have the opportunity to gather information on a variety of choices. A representative from The Ohio State University will host two financial aid sessions during the event. Homes on the Hill
Homes on the Hill CDC, 12 S. Terrace Ave., will hold a two-session homebuyer education course, “A Home of Your Own,” geared towards first-time home buyers. The course is open to the public and free of charge. The workshop will cover topics ranging from financial literacy, credit and mortgage loans, how to choose a realtor, home inspections and the closing process. Senior luncheon

BR’s fall theatre production
Bishop Ready High School’s fall theatre production of Neil Simon’s “Fools” will take to the stage on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.; Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.; Oct. 21 at 2 and 7 p.m. The production will take place at Bishop Ready High School, Salisbury Road at Mound Street, on the Westside. PUMC Baked Steak Dinner

FHHS Band Bazaar
Franklin Heights High School Band Boosters will hold its annual Holiday Crafts Bazaar Dec. 1, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at Franklin Heights High School, 1001 Demorest Road.
Crafters of all kinds are needed to set up tables and sell their wares. Tables are $25 each, plus a charge of $2 if electricity is needed. Reserve your space today by calling Deb Kakos at 275-4480. The craft bazaar is an annual fundraiser for the Franklin Heights High School Marching Band and is sponsored by the Band Boosters.
