The outreach center is soliciting new and gently used spring clothing for children and teens. Spring outfits, jackets, shoes, and new socks and underwear are especially needed.
According to HELP House Executive Director Dee Heilman, volunteers and donations are desperately needed.
“Because of the significant increase in the number of individuals and families that we are currently serving with food, clothing, emergency funding and prayer since this time last year, we know that the number of requests for Easter baskets and spring clothing will be larger than last year,” she said.
Clothing, baskets, Easter grass, plastic eggs, stuffed animals, wrapped pieces of chocolate, jelly beans, small Christian-themed toys and monetary contributions may be dropped off at H.E.L.P. House, 122 E. Center St. in London, on Mondays from noon to 7 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon, and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m., from now until March 22.

Hen Party
The annual Plumwood United Methodist Hen Party harkens back to the 1920s when the church women raised money through a potluck luncheon with games and apron or hat contests. Imagine chasing down a hen from the free range flock or getting one from your chicken yard. Only, you didn’t kill, pluck and cook the hen for the luncheon. You put it in a crate, took it to the luncheon and sold it to the local general store. The transaction’s funds benefited the church. If you didn’t have a hen, you donated 50 cents.
This year’s hen party is set for 11:30 a.m. March 16 at the church, 5103 Main Street, Plumwood, (740) 857-1114. You need not chase down a hen to participate. A donation of $10 will be accepted. A full day of fun is planned, including a meal at noon, prizes, singing, fellowship and a bake sale.
The program will feature stories, jokes and poetry, a devotional entitled “The Gingham Dress,” singing by the Purdum Sisters, and congregational singing.
