Reynoldsburg implements changes to future apartment development

Residents may notice some changes to future apartment developments in Reynoldsburg.
Reynoldsburg Council members approved zoning changes March 8 that would "reduce density and create more green space" in future developments, Development Director Lucas Haire said.
In addition, developments will be required to use better building materials that would allow the buildings to age better over time, he said.
The changes would not affect developments that already have been approved prior to the ordinance's approval or those developments in which 15 percent of the building permits have been issued.
It also would not affect developments that primarily offer condominium units for sale.
According to the ordinance, the structures affected would be required to use a minimum of 75 percent traditional and natural materials such as clay bricks, stone, cultured stone, stucco, wood or fiber cement board siding.
It would also specify that there are to be no more than four units per building and a minimum of 30 percent "open space" per lot.
In other news, the city of Reynoldsburg is conducting a community survey and asking residents to rate the quality of services, the perceived quality of life and several other items pertaining to the direction of the city in the future.
