Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland signed House Bill 290 on Feb. 27 at Westland High School after the ROTC Drill Competition. The bill adds Junior ROTC as an elective within the Ohio Core curriculum. It allows school districts to excuse students participating in Junior ROTC for at least two years from high school physical education. The bill passed unanimously through both the House and the Senate.
