London and Jonathan Alder wrestlers excel at sectionals

Jonathan Alder and London made strong showings at the Div. ll wrestling sectional Feb. 20 at Licking Heights.
Jonathan Alder placed second, 21.5 points behind first-place Licking Valley. Four Pioneers took first place, more than any of the 12 schools participating. They were: junior Chris Baker (152 lbs.), sophomore Conner Blacka (112 lbs.), senior Kyle Burgess (160) and junior Bobby Blankenship (189).
Runner-up finishers were seniors, Steven Picklesimon (140) and Vince Palmer (145). Third-place finishers were seniors Quintin Rigney (135) and Evan Riley (171).
Completing the field of Jonathan Alder district qualifiers were fourth-place finishers senior Ben Robinson (125) and sophomore Beau Green (215).
London finished third place with three of its wrestlers taking first place titles: senior Matt Perez (119), sophomore Aaron Thompson (125) and senior Matt Schramm (285).
Finishing second were junior Galo Santos (130), senior Ronnie Colvin (135), senior Shane Silvers (160), senior Kyle Hazlett (171) and sophomore Anthony Robinson (215).
Senior Keith Carius (189) placed fourth to round out London’s district qualifiers.
The Div. ll district tournament was set for Feb. 26-27 at Claymont High School in Ulrichville, Ohio.
