Falcon musicians honored at music competition
Several musicians from the Franklin Heights High School symphonic band competed recently in the OMEA District XV Solo and Ensemble Contest. The students were judged on the difficulty of the pieces they played, with those in Class A being the most difficult.
Ratings were given according to a five-point system, with one or "superior" being the highest score given.
In Class A solo, the following students received a superior rating: Alejandra Esson, Aaron Maier, and Chelsea Starkey. The following students received an excellent rating: Mitsel Arrendondo, Corie Conley, Megan Dailey, Chris Mitchell, Heather Parliament, and Michelle Vanover.
In Class B solo, the following students received a superior rating: Phanha Dang, Brad Kakos, Alex Rich, Hannah Simon, and Trent White. Sara Goble and Nate Lieberum each received an excellent rating.
In Class C solo, the following students received a superior rating: Chelsea Brown, Cody Donovan, and Vivian Vang. Daniel Cooke and Krystal Thomas each received an excellent rating.
The Franklin Heights High School band is an award-winning marching band of the South-Western City Schools District.
