Issues filed for Madison County's May 4 election

The following issues were filed for the May 4 election ballot in Madison County. The filing deadline was Feb. 18.
Countywide Issues
• Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities—Renewal of a 1.3-mill tax for five years for the operation and maintenance of Fairhaven programs for people with developmental disabilities.
• Madison County Sheriff’s Office—A 1-mill tax for a continuing period of time for payment of salaries of sheriff’s deputies engaged in law enforcement and criminal investigations and for obtaining and maintaining vehicles, communications and other equipment.
City and Village Issues
• City of London—An additional 0.5 percent income tax (with a credit of up to 0.5 percent for London residents who also pay muncipal income tax in another municipality) for funding the police and fire departments.
• Midway Village—An additional 2.1-mill tax for five years to resurface streets, roads and bridges.
School District Issues
• Jefferson Local Schools—A five-year levy renewing $1,299,460 and providing an increase of $152,878 for providing emergency operating requirements for the school district.
• London City Schools—Renewal of a 1 percent income tax for five years for current operating expenses.
• Madison-Plains Local Schools—A 6.99-mill bond issue for 28 years for construction of a K-12 building on Linson Road.
Township Issues
• Jefferson Township—Replacement of an 11-mill levy for a continuing period of time to: provide and maintain fire apparatus, appliances, buildings, and sources of water supply and materials; establishment and maintenance of lines of fire alarm telegraph; payment of permanent, part-time or volunteer firemen, including payment of firemen employer’s contribution; and to provide emergency medical services.
Other Issues
• American Legion Hall Post 417 (affecting the Mount Sterling North precinct)—Sale of spiritous liquor at Post 417, 27 Clark St. in Mount Sterling, to war era veterans club members.
