Local students can get a history lesson


Third grade students who are studying local history as part of their school curriculum can experience history through the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society.

Volunteers from the historical society can provide unique opportunities to experience local life from times past.

The new Welcome Center and Museum, 3378 Park St., features showcases full of items representing the area's rich history. Museum items include an original 1912 Model T Ford, Victorian-era parlor, china, clothing, kitchen items, cameras and bottle collection. Students can take a guided walking tour of historic downtown Grove City by arrangement with the historical society.

In addition, volunteers can provide tours through Century Village at Fryer Park where students can view the one-room Orders Road Schoolhouse and the Kegg-Kientz log house.

The Welcome Center and Museum is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
