Pickerington soon may have a new economic development director.
At the Feb. 2 council meeting, Police Chief Mike Taylor in his role as interim city manager announced he had offered the position to Susan Crotty.
Crotty, who served as Pickerington's economic development director from 1995 to 2005, was one of the two finalists for the yet-to-be-filled city manager position.
The council recently reopened the search for a new city manager after rejecting the initial 36 applicants.
"There is a better fit for Pickerington out there," Council President Tricia Sanders said.
Crotty may not have won the city manager title, but she impressed Taylor, he said.
He offered her the job without advertising for other candidates, Taylor said.
"I wanted her prior experience and wealth of knowledge," Taylor said.
Because Crotty has not yet accepted the offer, the salary has not been negotiated. However the council allocated $92,000 for the position from the 2010 budget, Personnel Director Linda Fersch said.
Taylor said he was confident Crotty would accept the offer.
Crotty could not be reached for comment before press time.
