Photos: Madison-Plains beats West Jeff in comeback

The Madison-Plains boys varsity basketball team staged a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat West Jefferson 66-62 Jan. 30 in front of a packed house at home.  West Jefferson jumped out to a fast first quarter and led 18-10. The Riders continued to lead 32-21 at the half and 48-39 after three quarters before the Eagles turned up the offense and outscored West Jefferson 27-14 in the fourth quarter to take the win. West Jefferson (5-8) will travel to Licking Heights on Feb. 9. Madison-Plains (10-3) will host Cedarville Feb 9.

Madison-Plains' Derek Warner blocks Clay Smith’s shot attempt. Warner scored 11 points for the Eagles. Smith tallied six points for West Jefferson.
West Jefferson’s D.J. Gray launches a shot in the first quarter over Kyle Powers for a score. Gray hit for 13 points including three three-pointers, while Powers notched 11 points for Madison-Plains.
Madison-Plains’ Matthew McCollister drives past Cody Williams to the basket.  McCollister led all players with 20 points including three three-pointers. Williams ended the game with seven points for West Jefferson.
Garrett Dugger goes up strong to the basket past the West Jefferson defense of Clay Smith and Cody Williams. Dugger scored 13 points for Madison-Plains including three three-pointers.
