Support for White Christmas appreciated

The Southwest Christian Ministerial Association thanks all who supported the annual White Christmas Program, in which 225 large food boxes, 31 smaller food boxes for senior citizens and numerous gifts, and clothing were distributed to area residents in need. This year we had over 353 volunteers providing 1,500 hours during the Christmas food drive.

Thanks to the Grove City Lions Club; Dayton Corrugated; Herlihy Moving and Storage; Dominic Massenelli of Massenelli Quality Cardinal Market; Wal-Mart Distribution Center; ERA Real Estate First; Meijer Co.; Order of the Eastern Star, Grove City Chapter 502; Grove City Masonic Lodge 689; United Methodist Church Quilters; and area schools and residents for their generous monetary donations. Also thanks to the Grove City Parks and Recreation Department; OLPH Life Teen; Volunteer Involvement Program members; Scout Troop 385 and Cub Scout Packs 126 and 82; Knights of Columbus, Council 4603, and all members of the Grove City Food Pantry for their assistance.

Christmas cards for the boxes were provided by the parks and recreation department's after school program participants as well as by OLPH public school religion students.

Thanks to the students of Buckeye Woods, Highland Park, Monterey, Richard Avenue, J. C. Sommer and East Franklin Elementary Schools; Holt Crossing, Park Street and Hayes Intermediate Schools; Jackson, Brookpark and Finland Middle Schools; Grove City Christian School; Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and Public School Religion classes; Grove City High School; Goddard School and the South-Western Career Academy for efforts collecting non-perishable food items, money, gifts and clothing.

The food collected and not needed for this program was donated to the Grove City Food Pantry.

Thanks to the volunteers who picked up the food at the schools, helped sort food, and packed and distributed the boxes, as well as the secretarial staff at OLPH for their assistance in compiling the list of recipients. Finally, thanks to the students, staff and organizations at Our Lady who rearranged their schedules to accommodate this program.

The support of the community was overwhelming and we know the White Christmas program made a difference this Christmas season to many families. Thank you for opening your hearts to share your talents this Christmas.

Patrick Fahy, White Christmas coordinator & Rev. Stan Kirtlan, Southwest Christian Ministerial Association
