Jackson Township to beef up fire force

The Jackson Township Fire Department will soon be seeing new faces at their stations and on the frontlines.

At the Jan. 19 Board of Trustees meeting, township chairman David Burris swore in eight part-time paramedics and firefighters to fill vacancies and to meet the increase of operational demands throughout the fire department.

Here are the eight new paramedics and firefighters that will be added to the Jackson Township Fire Department at the "earliest possible convenience, pending completion of background checks and physical requirements:"

•Jason Adams. Adams is a full-time firefighter/paramedic at the Pleasant Township Fire Department, as well as a part-time employee with the Prairie Township Fire Department. He has been a paramedic since 2007, and is a certified fire safety inspector and a special topics EMS instructor.

•William Feyh. Feyh has been a basic-EMT since March of 2009.

•Brian Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick has also been a basic-EMT since March of 2009 and has training in hazardous material operations and as a VFIS (Volunteer Fireman's Insurance Services) emergency driver.

•Dustin McCoy. McCoy, who has been a paramedic since 2003, is employed by the Madison County Emergency Medical District and the Ohio Health/Grant Medical Center. His qualifications include ACLS, international trauma life support and hazardous materials and weapons of mass destruction operations.

•Christopher Patton. Patton, who is employed by the Columbus Division of Fire, has been a paramedic since December of 2009. He is certified as a hazardous materials technician and as an aircraft rescue firefighter.

•Joshua Randall. Randall has been a basic-EMT since December of 2008.

•Christopher Wichiser. Wichiser, who is employed by the Lancaster Fire Department and the U.S. Army Reserve, has been a basic-EMT since July of 2003. He also has MedEvac experience in Iraq.

•Ryan Wihl. Wihl has been a paramedic since June of 2009 and is employed part-time at the Pleasant Township Fire Department.
