Groveport revenues up a bit

(by Rick Palsgrove, Southeast Editor - January 12, 2010)

Groveport's income tax revenues are starting 2010 on the upswing.

At Groveport Village Council's Jan. 11 meeting, Finance Director Ken Salak reported village income tax revenues for December were $780,380, an increase of 9.7 percent compared to December 2008 when revenues were $711,193.

"The revenues are up a little bit," said Salak. "I'm hoping they're up every month this year."

Village officials are looking for financial improvement after the tight national economy in 2009 put the squeeze on the village's income tax revenues. In 2008, the village collected $10.69 million in income tax, but in 2009 garnered $8.3 million. In response, the village trimmed back its 2010 budget.
