SE Chamber golf outing
The Southeastern Franklin County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual golf outing June 17 at  Homestead Springs Golf Course in Groveport.
Non-chamber members are invited to enter a four person team. Deadline is June 3 at $300 per team; the cost increases to $340 per team with registration cut off by June 9. Teams will receive a light breakfast, a hot lunch, 18 holes of golf, cart, team photo, two complimentary beverage tickets, and a gift bag.
Hole sponsors are needed, non-members welcome. Cost is $100 per sign and deadline is June 3.  The Chamber is looking for a sponsor for the benefit pink tee with proceeds benefitting Nellie's Cat Walk - Pediatric Cancer. Cost is $150.

Heritage Nature Center
The following programs are offered at the Heritage Nature Center at the log house in Heritage Park, 551 Wirt Road in Groveport. For information or to register call 836-1000. Metro Parks programs do not require pre-registration.

•End of School Campfire - June 4 from 7:30-10 p.m. Join the community at the annual campfire that includes a frog search at Palm's Pond. S'more fixings will be provided. For all ages. Free. Register by June 1.

•Nature Fair - June 11 from noon to 3 p.m. Enjoy crafts, activities and a visit form the Turtle Lady. For all ages. Free. Register by June. 8.

•The Art of Gyotaku - June 18 at 11 a.m. Learn the ancient art of Gyotaku or printing with our rubber fish. Practice on paper, then make a t-shirt. Bring a white cotton T-shirt. For all ages. Free. Register by June 15.

•Weather or Not - June 25 at 11 a.m. Using science experiments, activities and even a solar windbag, learn about weather. For all ages. Free. Register by June 22.

•Moth Campfire - June 29 at 8 p.m. Enjoy a summer campfire and discover the world of the nocturnal insect - the moth. Also make moth food. For all ages. Register by June 25.

•Butterflies are free - July 6 at 7 p.m. Make a small butterfly house to take home while learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and how to attract them to your garden. Bring a clean one gallon plastic jug. For all ages. Register by July 2.

Cops & Kids Day
The Groveport Police Department will host Cops & Kids Day on June 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Groveport Park, 7330 Groveport Road. Learn bicycle safety tips, ride through "Safetyville," and be eligible to win a new bicycle. Admission is free. For information call 836-5301.

Click It or Ticket
The Groveport Police Department will join local and national law enforcement officers for the 2011 Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization from May 23 to June 5.

Officers will crack down on motorists who fail to wear their seat belts while driving day and night.
Of those who died in night time vehicle crashes in 2009, nearly two thirds of them were not wearing seat belts.

For information about Click It or Ticket or about child restraint laws in Ohio, call the Groveport Police at 836-5301 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may also stop at Kroger, 6011 Groveport Road, on May 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to talk with a Groveport Police officer to obtain information.

Community garden
The city of Groveport Parks & Recreation Department will hold a meeting June 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Groveport Recreation Center, 7370 Groveport Road, to discuss the viability of a community garden. Interested residents are encouraged to attend and learn about the steps necessary to start a community garden.

Hollingshead Scholarship Fund to be established

The Ohio Farm Bureau is working to establish the Cindy Hollingshead Scholarship Fund in honor of her 39 years of service to the Ohio Farm Bureau as well as community work in the city of Groveport over the years. Help Pelotonia fight cancer
Flyer's Pizza in Groveport and Blacklick is helping the Pelotonia bicycle tour raise money to fight cancer. On April 28, May 26, June 30, July 28, and Aug. 11, 10 percent of all pre-tax sales will be applied towards the fundraising efforts of Groveport resident riders Ed LaFollette and Megan LaFollette (husband and wife team). Upon ordering and paying, patrons must indicate they support Pelotonia. The benefit is from open to close and includes carry-out, dine-in, or delivery. Pelotonia donates 100 percent of the money is raises to The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Airplane noise hotline
Area residents having problems with airplane noise around Rickenbacker Airport can file a complaint by calling (614) 239-4065. Provide the date, time, and location of where the noise problem occurred.

Spirit Night
The first Friday of each month from 2-9 p.m. is Spirit Night at the Groveport Waffle House on South Hamilton Road. When you purchase a meal there during that time, state you are there to support the Center for Groveport Madison Human Needs and 25 percent of your bill will go towards helping those in need.

Groveport Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will be held in Groveport Park, 7370 Groveport Road, on June 24-25 from 6 p.m. to noon. For information call Sue Pairan at 888-227-6446 ext. 3900 or sue.pairan@cancer.org.

Groveport Garden Club
The Groveport Garden Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at Groveport Zion Lutheran Church, 6014 Groveport Road, Groveport. The club welcomes anyone interested in gardening. For information call Virginia Myers, 836-5456.
