100 years of Canal Winchester football

Canal Winchester High School football alumni from the 1950s (top) through recent graduates line the track at Canal Winchester to offer well wishes to the current Indians' team before their home opener Aug. 28 against Bexley. The alumni were on hand to celebrate 100 years of Canal Winchester football.

Locke, who coached at Canal Winchester from 1967-91 amassing a record of 173-74-3 and seven league titles, is shown here with his wife, Pat.

Canal Winchester senior running back Michael Mainella (bottom) maneuvers around a Bexley Lion during the Indians' 43-0 victory on Aug. 28. Mainella rushed for three touchdowns and 191 yards before lightning suspended the game at the half. The game was completed on Aug. 29.
