Bexley Schools extends superintendent's contract
The Bexley Board of Education approved a contract extension for Superintendent Mike Johnson that will keep him in Bexley for an additional three years.
Johnson has nearly completed three years of his current five-year contract. At the June 29 meeting, Board President Andrew Sutter asked board members to extend that contract by an additional three years.
Johnson has served the Bexley City School District since 2001. Last year, he was among the final six candidates considered for the position of Superintendent of Instruction for the State of Ohio.
"We need to retain for the long haul a superintendent who is intimately familiar with Bexley and its schools and who will not shy away from the challenges that will confront the educational community in the years to come - someone who has experience in delivering high quality educational services in a cost-effective manner," Sutter said in a prepared statement.
