Free Tree Day in CW
The village of Canal Winchester is sponsoring Free Tree Day," on May 2 from 9-11 a.m. at Stradley Plaza on South High Street next to the Municipal Building, with the goal of planting trees to increase the green canopy within the village.
Canal Winchester has been named a Tree City USA for the past 16 years. The village was recently given a Tree City USA Growth Award, one of only five communities in Central Ohio to receive this honor for 2008.
A variety of trees will be available to residents living within the village limits. These trees are to be planted in yards and not within the public right of way as the village is responsible for the planting and maintenance of trees in the tree lawn area. Residents will be asked to provide proof of residency either with a current driver's license or water bill. Because of the limited number of trees available, only one tree will be given per household and trees are available on a first come, first served basis.
For information call Dick Miller at 834-5100.
