Public hearing set for tree nursery sale
(by Christine Bryant, Eastside Editor - January 10, 2009)
The city of Bexley will hold a public hearing Jan. 13 for residents interested in asking questions or finding out more information about the sale of the Bexley Tree Nursery property.
The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers, 2242 E. Main St.
The city is in the process of entering into a contract of sale for the property located on the north side of Bexley.
The city received the offer of $350,000 from a potential buyer, who has yet to be named.
The nearly 2-1/2-acre tract of land is located near North Parkview and Caroline avenues. The city has had offers for the land during the past few years, with proposals including residential development.
The property is currently zoned single-family, high-density area.
However, those offers fell through due to disagreements over conditions of how the land would be developed.
It has not been disclosed how the current potential buyer will use the land, though more details are expected to surface at the Jan. 13 public hearing.
The tract of land encompasses the unimproved Parkview Extension and extends from North Parkview Avenue at Caroline Avenue north to the railroad right-of-way and from Alum Creek on west to 2364 Caroline Avenue on the east. It also includes the triangular portion of right-of-way at the intersection of Caroline Avenue and Parkview Avenue.
