Medley of foods offered at Taste of Pickerington
A medley of tastes will be offered at this year’s Taste of Pickerington and Fall Fest - an event that is expected to draw thousands from the region.
The event, which is free to attend and is sponsored by the Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 4 in Olde Town Pickerington (corner of Center and Columbus streets).
For $1, visitors can sample a little bit of everything the city has to offer, including burgers, wings, shake shots, pizza and stromboli.
Like something you taste? New this year, people will be able to vote for their favorite restaurants that are participating in the Taste of Pickerington for the People’s Choice award.
"The trophy will then be passed around from winning restaurant to winning restaurant in the following years," event co-coordinator Alyson Nye said. "The trophy has a purple spatula on it, so we are calling it the Purple Spatula Award."
Like something you see? Business vendors will be able to sell their products.
"The Fall Fest portion of the event consists of businesses promoting their goods and services," event co-cordinator Kristina Corder said. "This is the first year we are allowing businesses to sell their products."
Last year, more than 7,000 people attended the event, and event coordinators hope between the new events and the old favorites, that number will rise.
Events will include a fashion show incorporating Laura¹s Loft, Cotton Grass and Deblin Design; live entertainment from The Staplers, Livingston and Oblivion Fire; performances by The Ohio State University Dance Team and Pickerington ATA Black Belt Academy; and a story time with Clifford for the children.
Several restaurants and businesses in the Pickerington area will be on hand, as well as the American Red Cross, which will offer a blood drive.
There also will be a wing eating contest between the Pickerington North and Pickerington Central football teams, sponsored by Wings to Go.
"They will be providing a trophy and hope to make this a yearly event, to then pass the trophy back and forth between the high schools," Nye said.
