Bicycle rodeo Aug. 16 in Pickerington

The Pickerington Police Department DARE program and the Violet Township Bicentennial Committee are combining their efforts to present a Bicycle Rodeo from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Lifestyles Family Fitness Center Parking Lot in Pickerington.

It is free to the public and will provide several opportunities to learn more about responsible bicycle ownership.

The event is planned to teach children bicycle safety and rules of the road.  Cyclists can also have their helmets checked for correct fit and show off their riding skills.

With gas prices rising, adults wanting a short refresher on the Ohio laws pertaining to bicycles are welcome. Free basic bicycle maintenance checks will be performed by the Staff from Cyclist Connection.

Helping to sponsor the event is the Brain Injury Association, Fairfield Heritage Trail Association and Nationwide Children's Hospital.
