West Jefferson wins county tourney

| “We’re No. 1” was the claim that only West Jefferson could make at the end of the Madison County Softball Tournament held April 5 at London. The Roughriders repeated as champs. In the final game, West Jefferson and Madison-Plains were scoreless until junior Devan Boggs drove a game-winning shot to left centerfield for an in-the-park homerun. The final score was 1-0. |

| West Jefferson junior Devan Boggs scored big in the seventh inning of the final game of the Madison County Softball Tournament held April 5 at London High School. The Roughriders and Madison-Plains’ Golden Eagles were locked a 0-0 until Boggs drove a long shot into left centerfield for an in-the-park homerun. West Jefferson won the game 1-0 and took home the county title. |
