Remember When: Children gathered to hear radio

(by Earl Ballenger, columnist - April 05, 2008)

Grade school children in London were released from school early one day in 1930 to visit Roy Dixon’s Radio & Automobile Service to listen to the 1930 model of the Atwater Kent Radio with Golden Voice. Dixon’s business was located on South Main Street (where EIS, an inspection firm, is now located). Notice the old-style gasoline pump out front. A res-taurant was next door along with an IGA grocery store.  We cannot identify the children or the adults in the picture. The Madison County Historical Society provided this photo.
