You can be the solution

I was so happy to read the Westside Messenger this past week and see letters defending the Westside after the recent letter submitted by Rick Miller.

I just recently moved back to the Westside (my home town) from California after 29 years. Yes, I will admit that its not the same as it was 29 years ago, but I can still see its potential if we all would contribute. It has been sad to see all the store closures recently and how old areas are just left to be eyesores. I can’t believe the old Super Duper store building  on Briggs Road is still standing and what a eyesore that is. Even if it was just an empty parking lot, it would look so much better.

And what’s with all the vendors on the corners leaving trash,  broken down vans,  cars and trailers? Can’t we pick one designated spot for all the vendors, verus having them all scattered about? It is true you would not see any of this in  cities such as Hillard, Delware, Upper Arlington, etc.

It seems we are trying to make the Westside known for lower income and having residents who really just dont care. If this continues, you will keep seeing potential spenders move and take their monies eslewhere.

Oh, and by the way...I have family that live in Hillard, and they, too, have their share of crimal activity.  I think the reason those problems are fewer is because they work as a community to not allow such activities in their neighorhoods.

Debbie Ennis,
Columbus
