Strawberry Salad
Submitted by Whitney Wilson-Coy, Westside Messenger Editor
Growing up, this was a holiday favorite for my sister and me. We begged our mom to make it for every holiday. Even though we’re both grown up, we still get excited to see it on the dessert table each Christmas Eve.
STRAWBERRY SALAD
2 packages Wild Strawberry Jello
1 1/2 cups boiling water
16 oz. can crushed pineapple, undrained
2 pints. frozen strawberries, thawed and undrained
16 oz. sour cream
2 ripe smashed bananas
crushed nuts (optional)
Mix all ingredients except sour cream and nuts. Pour half of mixture into 13x9 baking dish. Let chill until firm (let unused portion stand at room temperature.) Spread sour cream over top. Top with remaining strawberry mixture. Top with nuts if desired. Let chill until firm. Cut into squares for serving.
