When Patti and Dan Blazer moved to London a few years ago, they looked for ways to meet people and get involved in the community. They found the ideal blend of both in Heartfelt Holidays, the Madison County Hospital Foundation’s annual Christmas gala and fundraiser.
Proceeds from Heartfelt Holidays go to the hospital’s Breast Cancer Endowment Fund and Heartfelt Patient Assistance Fund, both of which benefit patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
“We had lost a dear friend to breast cancer and wanted to help make people aware that there is help at the hospital for those who cannot afford care,” said Patti. She and Dan have co-chaired Heartfelt Holidays for the past four years.
This year’s event is slated for Dec. 1 at Choctaw Lake Lodge. The evening will include dinner catered by A Chef For You, drinks, live music by the Alexander band, and live and silent auctions.
The band plays a wide variety of music, from pop and country to classic standards and old-time rock-n-roll. Among the auction items are a round of golf with Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator and NFL Hall of Famer Dick LeBeau, a basketball signed by the 2011-12 Ohio State University men’s basketball team, and one week at a four-bedroom condo in Gulf Shores, Ala., along with unique holiday decorations, event tickets, hand-crafted items, and merchant gift certificates.
“The committee spends several days decking out the lodge with decorations and lights. It really is beautiful,” Patti said. “It’s a chance to dress up for a fun night out that’s all in the spirit of the season.”
Tickets are $85 per person and can be purchased by calling the Madison County Hospital Foundation office at (740) 845-7050 or by placing an order online at www.mchheartfeltholidays.com. Ticket sales close Nov. 26.
