Groveport Town Hall, 648 Main St., will offer "Tuesdays@One" arts and education programming from 1-2 p.m. every Tuesday. October classes include:
•Oct. 9 - "History of Apple Butter Day" presented by Groveport Heritage Society President Carla Cramer.
•Oct. 16 - Movie and popcorn - Agatha Christie's, "Partners in Crime"
•Oct. 23 - Decorate a wood tray with fall theme. (Limited supplies. Registration required.)
•Oct. 30 - "Getting Your Garden Ready for Spring," by Joe Stewart of the Groveport Garden Club
Make a Difference Day
The city of Groveport and Groveport Madison Schools are jointly coordinating the 2012 Make a Difference Day, a national day of service sponsored by USA Weekend. Area companies and service agencies are invited to participate for the 10 day collection drive.
This year's project will help homeless families in the community transition from shelters to permanent housing. Collection boxes will be made available for placement in a lobby or break room from Oct. 15-26. Needed items include toiletries, paper product, linens, personal care items, laundry supplies and grocery gift cards.
Volunteers are needed at 1 p.m. on Oct. 27 to help sort and assemble donations for the shelters. Donations will be packed at Groveport Madison Middle School South, 4400 Glendenning Drive, Groveport.

Groveport leaf pick-up
The city of Groveport's public works department will begin daily leaf pick up beginning Oct. 10 and continuing through Dec. 10. Residents should place leaves by curb's edge. For information call 836-3910.
Heritage Nature Center
The following programs are offered at the Heritage Nature Center at the log house in Heritage Park, 551 Wirt Road in Groveport. For information or to register call 836-3333. All programs are free and open to all ages.
•Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. - Creepy Critters - Spiders and Bats and Owls, Oh My! Learn about these fascinating and often misunderstood critters.
•Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. - History Comes Alive! Join us for a fun and educational journey back through time and meet the Horse Wisperer John Rarey, a gravedigger, a worker who dug the Ohio and Erie Canal by hand, and other colorful "residents" of Groveport Cemetery. Guided tours. Merry, not scary. Free.
•Oct 27 at 7 p.m. - Free Family Movie Night with a Halloween theme. Costume contest. Refreshments.
Groveport Garden Club
The Groveport Garden Club meets the first Tuesday of each month at Groveport Zion Lutheran Church, 6014 Groveport Road, Groveport. The club welcomes anyone interested in gardening. For information call Virginia Myers, 836-5456.
Blacklick Estates Blockwatch
The Blacklick Estates Blockwatch meets at 6 p.m. on Nov. 8 at Dunloe Elementary, 3200 Dunloe Road. Upcoming meetings will be Jan. 10, March 14 and May 9. Call Sandy Rose at 837-6980.
New Groveport city maps
New 24-inch by 36-inch maps of the city of Groveport are available at the Groveport Recreation Center, Groveport Town Hall and the Groveport Municipal Building. The maps contain information pertaining to city facilities, parks, Metro Parks, trails, schools, churches and other points of interest. The full color maps are free.
Do you have a story to tell?
Do you have any stories about Groveport you'd like to share? The Groveport Heritage and Preservation Society is working on an oral history project for Groveport. Their goal is to gather and share stories, memories and information on what life was like in Groveport through the years. The plan is to complete the project and present it at Groveport Town Hall next summer. Volunteers are needed to help interview participants. For information email groveportoralhistory@gmail.com.
