Trick-or-treat in Canal Winchester
Trick-or-treat in Canal Winchester will be held Oct. 31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The annual VFW Halloween party starts at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Frances Steube Community Center at 22 S. Trine St. Canal Winchester Human Services will help sponsor entertainment for the evening.
While trick-or-treating can provide a lot of fun, general precautions should be taken. Some basic safety tips to follow including:
•Only let children visit houses of people they know who have turned an outside light on to welcome trick-or-treaters.
•Inspect all candy before eating, and throw out any open or suspicious looking candy.
•Have an adult accompany children while they trick-or-treat.
•Tell children to walk instead of run and look both ways before crossing the street.
•Encourage children to wear reflective costumes or add light sticks to their costumes to help make them more visible to motorists.
•Be extra cautious of children crossing the street if driving during or shortly before or after trick-or-treat hours.
Trick-or-treat in Groveport and Madison Township
Trick-or-treat in Groveport and Madison Township will be held Oct. 31 from 5:30-7 p.m.
The annual Lions Club block party and costume contest will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 in front of Groveport Town Hall, 648 Main St.
History Comes Alive!
History comes alive at this merry, not scary, tour of the Groveport Cemetery at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24. Costumed characters will portray famous "residents" of the cemetery. Meet at the log house in Heritage Park, 551 Wirt Road, Groveport. For information call (614) 836-3333.
Halloween activities in Groveport
The following are Halloween activities to be held in Groveport (for information call (614-836-3333 unless otherwise noted):
•Creepy Critters: Spiders, bats & owls, oh my! - Learn about these critters at 11 a.m. on Oct. 20 at the Heritage Nature Center in the log house in Heritage Park, 551 Wirt Road, Groveport.
•Halloween craft - Make a spooky craft at 10 a.m. on Oct. 27 at Groveport Town Hall, 648 Main St. Free. Register by Oct. 24.
•Monster Mash Bash Family Halloween Dance - Put on your costume and dancing shoes for the this event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Groveport Recreation Center, 7370 Groveport Road. Cost is $5 per person. Register by Oct. 12. For information call (614) 836-1000.
•Free movie night and costume party - At Crooked Alley KidSpace, 630 Wirt Road, Groveport, at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27.
